Reiki for animals: The latest fad, or a game changer for your pets well-being?

Is your pet struggling with something? Physical injuries, behavioural problems, stomach trouble, anxiety, nervousness, timidity, performance, appetite loss, bonding with you, or separation anxiety?

Daisy the border collie cross was feeling overwhelmed with the world. A rescue dog, just 10 months old, she had been passed from pillar to post. Daisy found it hard to trust, and her new owners knew she needed help to bond with them. Reiki healing helped to build that bond, and Daisy’s confidence.

Daisy's new owners said:

Since receiving Reiki for dogs, Daisy has become a normal young dog full of life, and her confidence is increasing quickly

Some people say that Reiki healing is the best complementary treatment out there for your pets, but you may never have heard of it. So where has Reiki energy come from and what is it all about? Reiki, the Japanese word for ‘universal energy’, is an ancient method of healing. It was largely unheard of in the West until Dr Usui rediscovered Reiki in 1920s Japan, and it spread to the West over the following two decades.

What are the benefits of Animal Reiki Healing?

Reiki improves all aspects of life, including your pets’ physical health and emotional well-being. Reiki works by enhancing the animal’s own ability to heal, which will have a direct impact on the overall welfare of your pet. Our pets’ bodies are built of muscles, bones, blood vessels, tendons and organs, but they also have an energy system. Every part of the physical, spiritual and emotional body is linked to these energy systems. By releasing any anxiety and other negative emotion, Reiki cleanses the physical and emotional body.

When something goes wrong within the body, negative energy is created. The negative energy or blockage in the energy system will result in a downward spiral of both physical and emotional health problems. Reiki energy can break down the negative energies and replace them with positive energy. Negative energy is very damaging and the longer we allow it to dwell within us, or our pets, the more damage is done. Take trauma or chronic illnesses - deal with them at the start, when the blockage in the body’s energy stream occurs, and we are able to prevent significant long term damage.

How does Animal Reiki Healing work?

The Animal Reiki practitioner will treat your animal in the environment where they feel most at ease. For your dog this may be your home, or for your horse it might be their stable. The practitioner will turn on the connection with the universal healing energy that is everywhere around us. They will ensure that the animal will take as much or as little of the energy offered as they need at that time. This is done to prevent your pet from potentially becoming overwhelmed.

The effects of Reiki healing are cumulative, so it is advised to have a course of treatments to produce long-term beneficial changes, emotionally and physically. The Reiki treatment can be given via hands on healing, or simply through the Reiki practitioner being physically close to the animal, sending the Reiki energy to them from a short distance. Reiki, a complementary, holistic, and non-manipulation therapy is extremely beneficial to all our pets.
