A new pencil case please!

Even if you haven’t been buying back to school shirts, planning out the school ‘run’ or bus passes or packing a packed lunch and some brand new stationery for a little person in your life; I’m sure you’re aware that this time of year is most definitely ‘Back to School’ time.

Some people, even into adulthood, get that flurry of excitement or that knot of worry at the thought of the Autumn term starting. Some studies even suggest that the Autumn is when the brain is best able to memorise things, perhaps a hangover from the rhythms we develop from childhood and the school calendar.

New term means different things to different people: perhaps it’s about getting into a new routine, or having a routine at all if the summer has felt more unstructured. For others it means knuckling down to some serious graft (whether we like it or not), and for many others where ongoing work has given little rest over the Summer, it might just feel like more of the same.

In the spirit of the new terms, we are going to start the term with a quiz… [I hear simultaneous groans and cheers!] But don’t worry, we’ll give you the answers at the end of the article.

  • What is the healing energy known as in Reiki?

  • A balanced flow of energy helps maintain your physical, emotional and mental well-being. True or False?

  • Where does Reiki originate from?

  • You have to be an empath to practice Reiki. True or False?

  • How does Reiki have a strong connection to the principles of physics?

If these questions have whet your appetite or reminded you about Reiki, then here are some things you might want to consider at the start of this term:

1. Make Reiki part of your everyday practise. Perhaps it’s the first thing you do in the day before you even get up. Just place a hand on your own chest and belly in bed, ground yourself and let the healing energy flow.

2. Come to one of our Reiki shares and enjoy the focus of energy felt amongst the group practicing together.

3. Book on a Reiki course to level up your Reiki skills with humans or animals, or both!

4. Each one, teach one. Take some time in the next week to explain the benefits of Reiki to a friend.

So let’s start the new term with a fresh new start starting from today, and remember the old mantra:

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift, which is why we call it the present.

[Answers: Ki. True. Japan. False. In physics we learn that all objects and living beings are made up of molecules which have vibrating atoms in them, which are part of our energy flow.]
